The next Invasion will take place on Monday August 5th at 7pm.
We’ll announce our next location soon!
At the risk of bring labeled “fair weather” readers, we are postponing tonight’s Reading Invasion due to soggy grounds and the risk of wet pages. Please read amongst yourselves tonight (seriously). Check back soon for details on the next Invasion!
*if you are reading somewhere tonight, consider taking a pic and posting to our facebook page.
The location for the June 3rd Buffalo Reading Invasion has been set:
Bidwell Parkway, running west from Elmwood Avenue. from 7pm – 8pm.
We kicked off last year along the Parkway, and it just seems like such a fitting place to start again this year.* Please pass this along, and then join us on Monday with your book, perhaps a blanket or a chair, and join us for an hour of quiet reading in one of Buffalo’s most beautiful public spaces. Come and find a spot on the section west of Elmwood. There is no official “start”–just come and sit and read and enjoy. (Families and kids are welcome and encouraged! We’d like as many young people out as possible!)
Hope to see you then!
*We are working on the next locations, and definitely plan on exploring great public spaces in other city neighborhoods!
Hello everyone! After a winter off (from gathering, not reading, l hope), we are finally back with a schedule and a plan and a renewed excitement about getting together once again for the 2nd year of Buffalo Reading Invasions.
Last year we held three invasions; this year, we plan on having them once a month until the weather drives us indoors. Like last year, we’ll be announcing the locations right before the event (in keeping with our flash-mob roots), but we are setting the dates more in advance. And so, this year’s Buffalo Reading Invasion schedule:
Monday June 3rd, 7pm – 8pm, location TBA
Monday July 1st, 7pm – 8pm, location TBA
Early August
Early September
Early October
Please help spread the word, encourage and invite others, and most importantly, find a good book to bring to the occasion.
We’ll be announcing locations via:

on Twitter @Buffreadinginvasion
and on Facebook/BuffaloReadingInvasion
The location of the Saturday September 22nd Reading Invasion has finally been decided!
We are going to descend upon and invade the western edge of Hoyt Lake from 4pm – 5pm (nearest to the Albright Knox). There is plenty of waterfront area to sit by, lots of grassy knolls, and a few benches scattered throughout. You may want to bring a chair or blanket (and a picnic for sure).
Please spread the word and tell your friends. With this early time, we are particularly looking to include more families in our reading celebration.
See you then!!!
*Note: we really wanted to head to Canal Side for this month, but there just too much going on there that day…we’ll get there eventually!)
We’ve decided on a date and a time for the first ever September Reading Invasion (no location yet!):
Saturday September 22nd from 4pm – 5pm.
With school back in session and the night coming earlier, we’ve decided to change up the time and date a bit. We’ll see how it goes. So please help spread the word, tell your friends, get a good book, and join us on the 22nd for an hour of reading–and celebrating its importance in our community.
See you then!

That’s right! If you haven’t been, then you are in for a special treat; If you have been, you’ll know why we are excited about this one. This Monday, August 20th from 7pm – 8pm, the Reading Invasion will be taking over Larkin Square, located at the corner of Seneca and Swan. One of the great new public spaces in Buffalo, Larkin Square should be a perfect place for reading and celebrating this act together!
Larkin Square, for those who haven’t been, is filled with chairs and grassy areas and places to sit, so bring a chair or blanket or just find a place to plop down and read from 7pm – 8pm. Additionally, the Grill, an outdoor bar and grill, will be open until 8, serving food and drinks (if anyone is interested)
Can’t wait to see you then!!
