Buffalo Reading Invasion

The date & location of the first Reading Invasion has been official announced. On Monday June 9th*, we will be invading Bidwell Parkway, going east from Elmwood Ave (on the Talking Leaves/Aroma side, heading toward Buff Sem). Reading begins at 7pm and ends at 8pm. 

*rain date: Monday June 16th: same time, same place.

If you’ve been to a Reading Invasion already, you know what to do.

If this is your first Invasion, then the rules are pretty simple: Come down to Bidwell around 7pm; bring a book and perhaps a chair or a blanket; join us for an hour of quiet reading and simple celebration. All are welcome, ESPECIALLY FAMILIES!

As per tradition, we’ve asked one of Buffalo’s talented young artists to produce this year’s  official Buffalo Reading Invasion Bookmark. This year’s is made by local artist Anne Muntges (more here).

Check it out. First readers to arrive on June 9th will receive an official Reading Invasion bookmark.

Buffalo Reading Invasion is excited to announce our 3rd season!  We are kicking things off on Monday June 9th at 7pm!

Please join us on Monday September 9th from 6:30pm – 7:30 at Larkin Square for an end of summer reading event!

We’ll be gathering in Buffalo’s great new urban spaces to celebrate community, reading, and our robust literary life.

In addition, the amazing Larkin folks will be keeping the bar open, so come on by for a pre-reading drink!

While darkness is coming earlier each day, the early fall weather seems mighty appealing for another Reading Invasion. And so it will be:

The August 5th Reading Invasion location has been set!

We’re going to South Buffalo this week, to one of Buffalo’s great, and under-appreciated-parks: Cazenovia Park. We’ll been meeting at the Cazenovia Street entrance to the park, right along the creek.

The Cazenovia Library and Resource Center is partnering with us for this event. They are located just across the street from where we are meeting. Stop in and check them out before or after the Invasion. The Library is an independent, volunteer-run library that was saved from closure by some concerned and caring residents.
